Art

At Slotstik, we firmly believe skimboard art should reflect originality of design. That’s why all Slotstik, art is airbrushed by hand. We do not use mass produced or ‘screened’ graphics and replications are kept to a minimum. This promotes a ’one of a kind’ look that expresses individuality and makes it highly unlikely that clones of your board will clutter your favorite break. We do our best to hold down cost without sacrificing artistic expression. Prices for art begin at $30. The hourly rate for custom or complex designs is $40. You can submit by email any personal designs for estimate.

Finish

Slostik Skimboards are available in two finishes: Satin or Gloss

SATIN finished boards are not polished but sanded to a semi-smooth surface that is durable, has lots of feel when wet or dry, holds deck pads well and weighs slightly less than glossed boards. Because of process, they are only available in lighter tones ( see above ) and are not recommended for boards with carbon fiber tops. A satin finish is different than so called ‘textured’ decks found elsewhere and some clarity might be useful here. We understand ‘textured’ decks are skimboards that never received a sanding coat. The sanding coat is applied over the layup. It seals the board from leaks, adds considerable strength and promotes a smooth, even, and consistent shape. Like surfboard design, a sanding coat should be standard in skimboard construction and leaving this step out is a massive compromise in quality with very little benefit ( modest weight savings, reduces labor and material costs ). It is no surprise that in the highly competitive surfboard industry these ‘naked’ lay-ups are absent.

When GLOSS finished, a Slotstik skimboard takes on a whole new dimension. Our perfected technique produces a high-gloss finish that surpasses all competitors and, in fact, rivals anything in the entire hard surf product industry. A visually deep, polished and scratch free surface extends the life of the skimboard, holds deck pads extremely well ( just clean adhesion area with window cleaner ), allows easy surf wax removal, and strengthens the deck without adding substantial weight. Gloss finished Slotstik skimboards can be found on beaches around the world, years after purchase, still shining and going strong.
